2021 Gambit Scholastic Tournament #2

This tournament is scheduled to start on April 10, 2021, and run from 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

It will take place at the Embassy Suites on 3974 NW S River Dr, Miami, FL 33142.

• U1000 & U1500 & Open Tournaments (4 rounds)

This tournament has an entrance fee of $30. The on-site fee is $35. It would have a time control of 35 minutes with a 5-second delay (G / 35 : D / 5). There is going to be an Individual and Team first, second, and third-place trophies for each division. Anyone can enter the Open division for this tournament!

There will be an on-site fee of $35 if you do not register online. You can only register on-site 45 minutes before the first round starts. I am adding this rule because of problems that occurred when this rule wasn't in place.

• Procedures

When arriving at the hotel, you will receive a parking ticket. Take this parking ticket to the front desk of the Hotel and you will be charged $5 for the entire day. You will be given a card that looks like a room key. You can use this card to go in and out of the parking at your leisure. I heard that many people had a pay a lot for parking in our first tournament, so I personally tested that it works and it did (I will check again the day of the tournament).

Everyone would arrive at the main entrance where someone will greet them, take their temperature, asked questions about COVID, and be pointed in the right direction as to where to go and at what time for their tournaments.

All pairings will be posted on this website at the time of the tournament.

The waiting area is anywhere around the hotel.

While people are entering the hotel, we ask that everyone is socially distanced and this rule will be enforced. If people are not socially distanced while entering the hotel, the tournament will be delayed.

• Lunch Services

There will be an interval of 45 minutes in between the second and third rounds which will be allotted for lunch. There is a restaurant inside the hotel and a grab-and-go in which you can buy food.

• Document of no liability

There is a document of no liability which you will have to be mandatorily signed before attending the event.

• COVID - 19 Precautions

Each group of 2 people playing at a chessboard will be properly socially distanced from the other groups of players playing on chess boards.

We would be using scan thermometers to check everyone's temperature and make sure that they are not exhibiting any symptoms of COVID - 19.

We have a questionnaire that all of the attendees would have to fill out that asks questions pertaining to possible symptoms of COVID - 19.

We will sanitize the boards, pieces, clocks (the attendees would have to sanitize their own clocks), and tables before the tournament begins and in between every round.

We will be providing gloves at the event which will be mandatorily worn during the tournaments.

Everyone attending the event will be required to wear a mask at all times (with one exception when eating when you must sit far away from other people and it is recommended that you eat outside.
